Gutter Maintenance is something that shouldn’t be overlooked, or you risk water damage to your home. We recommend that you clean and inspect your gutters and downspouts at least twice a year: once in the late fall after all the leaves have fallen from the trees and once in early summer after flowers and seeds are finished making their rounds.
Always take safety precautions when using a ladder: make sure the ladder is sturdy and let someone know what you’ll be doing.
When scooping the debris and muck from the gutters we recommend using a plastic scoop, as metal ones may damage your gutter seams.
Bringing a bag with you up the ladder for the debris can cause balance issues so we recommend placing a tarp or wheelbarrow on the ground near the ladder to toss the muck onto.
Finish the task by flushing the guttering system with a water hose and be sure to keep an eye out for any leaks or clogs in the downspouts.
Also, consider having gutter guards installed to prevent leaves and debris from collecting in your gutters in the first place. There are several options available including mesh coverings and self-enclosed gutters.
